ORLAND VERDÚ

Butoh Dance · Ritual Theatre · Archetypal Performance

Orland Verdú (a.k.a. Orlando Whales) is a European performance artist working at the intersection of Butoh, ritual theatre and archetypal performance.

The work explores transformation — a form of archetypal sorcery touching the tragic and the Unknown — through embodied action, symbolic imagery and ritual dramaturgy.

In certain performances appears the ritual alter-ego ORKA, a darker performative presence exploring instinct, chaos and archetypal transformation.

Across more than a decade of artistic practice, numerous original works have been created and performed, including ALADDIN: The Awakening of Shiva, (PIN)OCCHIO: The Soul’s Journey, MORPHEUS: Sandman & The Seven Sins, NAGASAKI: Wilderness Mute and ICARUS: The Last Flight.

Since 2016 Orland Verdú directs the artistic platform ORACLES Theatre, an independent platform for experimental performance based in Barcelona.

Orland Verdú is also the creator of ARKA XXI, a mythic universe and initiatory game exploring transformation through archetypes and symbolic structures.
